USB powered
The CI1 is powered by a computer’s USB. And by simply connecting the CI1 to a USB port the user gets immediate full control of Cubase. Even the +48 V phantom power of the two microphone inputs doesn’t require an additional power supply. With the CI1 being fully USB-powered, it’s no problem to record music whenever and wherever without having to find a mains outlet. The user can simply plug the CI1 into a notebook, connect a microphone or guitar and start jamming on the spot.

Two high-quality mic preamps
The CI1 provides two fantastic-sounding microphone inputs comprising balanced XLR/jack combo connectors and high-quality microphone preamps, each equipped with individual gain control and a Peak LED. With the onboard +48 V phantom power, the user can record at home or on the move using just about any dynamic or condenser microphone.

Direct connection of guitars
The first input channel comes with a dedicated high-impedance switch, letting the user jack an electric guitar or bass directly into the CI1 via the XLR/jack combo input.
 

Optional accessories

The optional mic stand adapter BMS-10A allows the user to attach the CI1 to a microphone stand and adjust it to a position that fits to his/her personal needs.

Studio quality standard

With 24-bit resolution and a sampling rate of 48 kHz, the CI1 offers a professional digital audio recording standard that lets the user record the music in studio quality. The CI1 is a high-quality audio hardware built by and designed together with Yamaha to provide a build quality that can only be described as truly professional.
 

Hardware latency-free monitoring
The Mono button on the CI1 allows analog inputs 1 and 2 to be used either as separate mono channels or as a stereo pair feeding just one side (L/R) of the monitor outs. With the Mix level control, the user can adjust the balance between the input signal and the playback signal from the software application, so that the input signal can be monitored without any latency.

Individual master level and phones level
The Line outputs of the CI1 are equipped with balanced TRS connectors, providing professional output studio connectivity. The Phones output is also equipped with a professional 6.3 mm TRS connector. The signal levels of the Master outputs and the Phones output can be adjusted independently. The headphones signal is not affected by the Master volume control.

Setup examples

Desktop home recording-studio

The CI1 provides all necessary inputs and outputs to record two individual signals at once, for example, vocals and guitar. The true +48 V phantom power lets you use high-end, large diaphragm condenser microphones for best sound quality.

Mobile stereo live recording

With the CI1, any user can record band gigs or concerts of orchestras and choirs with two condenser mics for a high-quality stereo live recording. It just takes a laptop and the CI1, and there’s no need for a power connector since the CI1 is fully USB-powered.

Mobile band live recording

To make a professional sounding demo of your band you simply have to connect the CI1 to the mixer desk available in the rehearsal room and record in 24-bit/48-kHz stereo quality.

Virtual Keyboard
The Virtual Keyboard featured in Sequel LE is ideal for playing and recording instruments with the mouse or computer keyboard.

Controller Mode
The Controller Mode provides a means to assign external controllers or keyboards to the most-used parameters in Sequel LE such as mixer volume, track effects, solo/mute buttons and even more. The ultra easy-to-use Controller Learn function allows the user to assign a controller by clicking the parameter and moving the desired knob, slider, key or button. The Controller Mode in Sequel LE provides many options for live performances, such as editing volume or tune and effects with your hardware controller to create a song on stage without a mouse.

Track Icons
Customizable Track Icons allow the user to label the project’s tracks and mixer channels, making them even easier to spot. Track Icons are selected from the factory picture library or a self-definable user library. Customizing Track Icons by changing size and shade let users give Sequel 2 projects their individual touch.

Track Freeze
When processing gets intense, there’s the Track Freeze function which frees up CPU power for more tracks and effects.

Free Warp
The Free Warp mode enables you to warp any part of an audio loop. With the Audio Reverse function it is possible to play audio backwards — a cool effect for breaks!

Tap Tempo
The Tap Tempo function helps you to assign the tempo of each audio file or to fix the tempo of the song.

Vista Core Audio Support
With Windows Vista or Windows 7, Sequel LE runs at very low latencies even without external ASIO hardware using the Vista Core Audio driver.

WaveLab LE 7
WaveLab LE 7 offers a suite of audio editing tools tailored to the needs of musicians, small recording environments and podcast authors. The podcast tool combines basic editing and mastering capabilities with full internet audio publishing features, creating a unique one-stop application for recording, editing right through to online publication via podcast, perfectly suited for Sequel and Cubase users. The sample-accurate 32-bit/96 kHz audio engine in WaveLab LE 7 combines a small set of quality virtual effect processors.

Enter the world of professional audio editing
WaveLab LE 7 not only allows you to edit CD-quality audio material on two tracks, but also enhances recordings, using more than ten plug-ins that include several effects taken from our professional music software, Cubase. In addition, there is the integrated podcast function which allows for sharing music and voice recordings in the internet.

Mac OS X support and new layout
Probably the most important new feature in WaveLab LE 7 is the compatibility to Mac OS X operating systems, which follows Steinberg’s goal to make all products available on both PC and Mac platforms. Furthermore, WaveLab LE 7 has been completely rewritten and comes with a new, modern and easy-to-use user interface, which is based on the new WaveLab 7 family design.

Convincing plug-in set
WaveLab LE 7 comes with nine plug-ins, based on Steinberg’s renowned VST3 technology. Plug-ins such as the Steinberg Compressor, Limiter, the renowned StudioEQ from Cubase and Roomworks SE form a solid feature set. More than ten additional plug-ins including Leveler are also on board.

Workspace concept and flexible window architecture
WaveLab LE 7’s Workspace concept is based on the bigger WaveLab 7 versions and offers the possibility to switch between several WaveLab LE 7 view sets with a single mouse click and thereby dramatically speeds up the entire working process with WaveLab LE 7. The new window structure offers the possibility to drag and drop program windows, resize them and place them anywhere required within the WaveLab LE 7 workspace.

Audio analysis on a new level
One of WaveLab LE 7’s strength is the audio analysis section, including tools such as the 3D offline Spectrum view and Level Meters for the master section that allows the user to always easily keep an overview on the technical results of the current mix.

Flawless audio quality
WaveLab LE 7 also delivers flawless audio quality by supporting 96 kHz sampling rate at a playback resolution of 32 bits.

Audio montage and wave editing
The Audio Montage of WaveLab LE 7 is the central working area, where audio files can be edited. It hosts two audio tracks as well as a basic editing feature set, including the possibility to set markers. The redesigned master section allows the use of up to three slots for the integration of plug-ins.

Podcast production
But there’s even more to it than that. WaveLab LE 7 also offers comprehensive support for the creation and publishing of podcasts. The powerful podcast tool offers a feature set, which can stand comparison even with the more professional WaveLab 7 versions. It’s possible not only to add parameters such as title or description, but also create several episodes and upload them directly to the server of choice.
