Shure Beta57A er konstruert til oppmikking av elektriske og akustiske instrumenter, spesielt trommer, slagverk, blås og instrumentforsterkere, både i studio og på scenen.
Utgangspunktet for Beta57 er velkjente SM57. Den har neodymium magnet som gir økt følsomhet. Beta57A har en forbedret frekvensrespons, både i bass- og diskantområdet som gir en mer åpen og naturlig lyd.
Karakteristikken er superkardioide over hele frekvensområdet, noe som gir mindre overhøring og feedback. Beta57 er også en utmerket vokalmikrofon.
