A Tube-driven Legend in Plug-in Form
With the release of the the Tube-Tech CL 1B plug-in, emulation is being redefined by Tube-Tech and Softube. The CL 1B plug-in is based upon highly advanced patented component emulation technology, and brings the legendary analogue sound of the CL 1B compressor/limiter to the native plug-in platforms. The CL 1B plug-in provides up to 30dB of gain and a continuously variable threshold ranging from 2.1 to 10.1. For amazing DSP-accelerated compression, the CL 1B is a great choice.

NB! Dette produktet krever iLok2 nøkkel. Hvis du ikke har,  kan du finne det under tilbehør på denne siden.

Responds just like the hardware box
The CL 1B features innovative attack/release controls, with three different settings, enabling the CL 1B to be used as an insert- or bus compressor. The Sidechain/Link button in the stereo instance of the CL 1B plug-in emulates the dynamic master/slave relationship between the left and right channels, a feature usually found when having two units interconnected via the Sidechain Bus found on the hardware version of the CL 1B. An ability unique to the CL 1B plugin is the advanced metering, capable of displaying the left channel, the right channel or both channels.

Great sound
Tube-Tech CL 1B is a true studio classic, heard on tons and tons of records for the past 20 years. Like its hardware counterpart, the Tube-Tech CL 1B native plug-in sounds soft, smooth, groovy and can compress an insane amount of dB's without sounding bad. The CL 1B plug-ins by Softube are the only Tube-Tech plug-ins that are fully endorsed by Tube-Tech. This version requires no DSP hardware but uses the same outstanding modeling technology and algorithms as the famous Tube-Tech CL 1B plug-in for TDM and PowerCore . The sound is of course just as fantastic as its predecessor. With this unprecedented accuracy, down to details such as the precise VU meter behavior, the Tube-Tech CL 1B plug-in is definitely in a league of its own.

The CL 1B plug-ins by Softube are the only Tube-Tech plug-ins that are fully endorsed by Tube-Tech.

In Short:

  • Classic Tube-Tech sound in your computer
  • Created together with the designers at Lydkraft/Tube-Tech
  • Each and every component carefully modeled
  • Fix./man. mode for breaking traditional compression boundaries
  • External sidechain control
  • A seriously great looking GUI!
  • Very CPU friendly

Controls

Compression controls

  • Gain: Up to +30 dB of make-up gain
  • Ratio: Continuous ratio control from 2:1 to 10:1
  • Threshold: Continuous threshold control from +20 dB to -40 dB
  • Attack: From 0.5 to 300 milliseconds
  • Release: From 0.05 to 10 seconds

Attack/release select

The Tube-Tech CL 1B features a unique attack/release switch. The switch has three different positions:

  • Fixed: In the fixed mode, the attack time is set to 1 millisecond and the release is set to 50 milliseconds
  • Manual: In the manual mode, the attack and release controls work as normal
  • Fix./man: In the fix./man. mode, the release control works as in manual mode. The attack, however, is fixed to a fast attack and the attack knob turns into a delay for the release time.

Sidechain bus select

Setting the Sidechain bus select to 'external' lets you - you guessed it! - use an external sidechain.

Meter options

At your disposal is an old school VU meter capable of showing three different things.

  • Input: The VU meter shows the input level
  • Compression: The VU meter shows the amount of gain reduction
  • Output: The VU meter shows the output level

Platforms

  • Native version: includes VST/AU/RTAS formats

"A truly faithful and very exact replica of the hardware CL1B. Finally it's possible to experience natural musical compression in a plug-in"    John G. Petersen Designer and president of Tube-Tech

"There are barely words to describe what I think about the CL1B plugin. The sonics are outstanding. The GUI is awesome. I thought it was just a picture until I started turning the knobs. I own hundreds and hundreds of plugins but... the CL1B plugin is the most accurate representation of a hardware that I have EVER seen."

Tony Shepperd Producer, Mixer, Engineer (Madonna, Faith Hill, Whitney Houston, Lionel Richie, Elton John, Back Street Boys, etc.)

Known Issues
Side chaining is problematic on some VST hosts.

Here are some sound examples from the Chicago-based producer Scott "Fritzy" Fritz of Stranded On A Planet Productions.

Drums (First 15 sec uncompressed, then 15 sec compressed drums)

The first 15 seconds of this clip are uncompressed drums, followed by 15 seconds of compressed drums.

   Bass (Compressed)

Full Mix: Amphion's Hand - Nightfall (Compressed)
Full Mix: Amphion's Hand - Nightfall (Uncompressed)

The CL 1B has been used across the master buss with a medium attack and release, and about 1-2 dB of gain reduction. Also, the CL1B is on the lead and backing vocals as the main compressors. This is what Scott Fritz says about the sound: "The CL1B definitely brings out the grit and enhances the stereo field, giving the mix a dirtier rock sound."
