Featuring a never-before-used tonewood and a host of player-focused design enhancements, the Builder’s Edition 324ce represents Taylor’s ongoing marriage of innovative acoustic design with forward-thinking strategy toward a more sustainable future. The star here is Urban Ash™, a tonewood sourced from city trees that have been selected for removal from urban settings due to due to weather or disease damage, public safety concerns, disruptive root systems, and simply reaching the end of their life cycle.

Instead of allowing this beautiful, functional wood to end its life cycle in a landfill, we’ve reclaimed it for use in the backs and sides of this 324ce, offering a tonal response similar to high-tier mahogany: dry and woody, with a fundamental-strong response that produces clear notes largely free from ringing overtones. Paired with a mahogany top, this Grand Auditorium produces clear midrange presence and crisp highs over a rich low end that will satisfy strummers and fingerstyle players alike.

V-Class bracing offers its trademark blend of power and resonance, emphasizing this guitar’s robust midrange while producing a more in-tune, musical sound. In keeping with the Builder’s Edition philosophy, this 324ce features an array of enhancements designed to provide the ultimate playing experience, including chamfered body and fretboard edges, a beveled armrest and cutaway, and a Curve Wing bridge. Other appointments include Compass inlays in faux pearl and Italian acrylic, Gotoh 510 tuners with a super-precise 21:1 gear ratio, a Silent Satin finish with a dark edgeburst treatment for an ultra-clean, noise-free sound, and ES2 electronics. It ships in a deluxe Taylor hardshell case.

Sourced from Re-purposed City Trees
Delivering top-notch musical performance, and created with woods sourced from "today's urban ecosystem," the Taylor 324ce Builder's Edition acoustic-electric guitar combines masterful craftsmanship with ecological awareness. The 324ce Builder's Edition features Shamel ash back and sides, sourced from re-purposed trees that needed to be removed from municipal areas in Southern California. Combined with a premium solid mahogany top, and crafted with a super-comfortable beveled armrest, you've got an amazingly rich-sounding instrument that feels incredibly natural to play. If you're an ecologically-minded guitarist in search of a stellar acoustic-electric guitar, look no further than the Taylor 324ce Builder's Edition.

V-Class Bracing: a sonic revelation
Bracing is the internal framework of an acoustic guitar that helps shape its sound. Although X-bracing has been standard in acoustic guitars for over a century, it creates an innate conflict between two key elements of a guitar’s sound: volume and sustain. The guitar's top (its soundboard) contributes to both. The flexibility of the top generates volume (projection), while its stiffness generates sustain. And with X-braced guitar tops, here's where the trade-off comes in: when something is made stiffer, its flexibility is reduced (and vice versa).

V-Class bracing changes all that. With Taylor's V-Class bracing, an acoustic guitar top can be both stiff and flexible — for more volume and sustain. V-Class bracing provides stiffness parallel to the strings for more rigidity and hence sustain. Flexibility on either side generates the air movement necessary for robust projection. It's the best of both worlds. This groundbreaking innovation also improves intonation; not only producing notes that are louder and with longer sustain — but more in tune with each other.

Grand Auditorium body delivers presence and power
Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium body style, featured on the 324ce Builder's Edition, employs the width and depth of the Dreadnought. However, its waist is narrower, which gives Grand Auditorium guitars a sleeker look, and more treble zing. The Grand Auditorium body style also helps to focus and sharpen the definition of each note — a quality desirable in any musical style. You'll also find your Grand Auditorium guitar to be incredibly comfortable, whether playing seated or standing.

Cutting-edge Taylor Expression System 2 electronics
If you play plugged in, then you're going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics built into your 324ce Builder's Edition. The key to this fantastic system is the 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the saddle. Because of where it's positioned and how it's integrated into the 324ce Builder's Edition's saddle, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls lets you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet phase switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression.

Features:

  • Grand Auditorium body style with Venetian cutaway
  • Back and sides crafted from re-purposed ash trees, in a partnership with West Coast Arborists
  • Mahogany top with V-class bracing yields amazingly rich tonality with impressive projection
  • Beveled armrest feels incredibly comfortable under your right arm
  • Taylor ES2 Expression System electronics deliver superior plugged-in tone
